Raz Hershko Reclaims World No. 1 Ranking After Budapest Grand Slam Gold
Israeli judoka Raz Hershko has returned to the top of the world rankings in the women's 78kg+ category following her gold medal victory at the Budapest Grand Slam. This marks a significant achievement for Hershko, who is described as one of Israel's most consistent athletes, regularly securing medals.
The Israeli national judo team achieved considerable success at the Budapest Grand Slam, securing a total of three medals and placing third overall among participating nations. In addition to Hershko's gold, fellow Israeli Yitzhak Azrapov also won a gold medal in the men's up to 60kg category. Karem Primo added a bronze medal in the women's up to 63kg division.
Azrapov's gold medal performance in Budapest propelled him to second place in the world rankings for his weight class. The 18-year-old judoka, who was previously ranked fifth, has made a remarkable climb, solidifying his position among the world's elite.
The team is continuing its journey, traveling from Budapest to Bratislava for a training camp. Their next major competition will be the World Championships in Baku, commencing on October 4th.
