Israel Railways to Significantly Increase Service Ahead of Yom Kippur
Israel Railways is implementing significant changes to its train schedule in preparation for Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. On Sunday, September 20th, the eve of the holiday, an enhanced schedule will be in effect until 1:00 PM, mirroring Friday's service patterns. This includes a notable increase in frequency on the Haifa-Tel Aviv line, with two trains per hour instead of the usual one. Additionally, a new service will operate on the Hadera East-Rosh Ha'ayin North line.
These adjustments are designed to accommodate the expected surge in public transportation use on the holiday eve, leading up to the cessation of all services. The company anticipates increased passenger traffic as people travel before the holiday begins.
No trains will operate on Monday, September 21st, the Day of Atonement itself, a standard practice observed annually. Regular train service, including overnight trains, will resume on Tuesday, September 22nd.
