Border Guard Commando Found Dead on Haifa Beach
The Israel Police and Border Guard announced with deep sorrow the death of Master Sergeant First Class Itai Parson, a 23-year-old commando from the elite counter-terrorism unit (YAMAM) and a resident of Haifa. Parson had gone to Students Beach in Haifa on Thursday afternoon, and contact was lost that evening. Search efforts were launched immediately, and his body was discovered on Saturday. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.
Parson, who was the son of a District Court judge, joined the Border Guard in August 2023 after an initial stint in a pilot's course in January 2023. He completed commando training and was assigned to the observation and drones team within the YAMAM, a national counter-terrorism unit of the Border Guard. He enlisted for permanent service in the unit in December 2025.
He is survived by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and his partner. His family has been notified, and the police and Border Guard expressed their condolences and pledged continued support.
