IDF Eliminates Two Hamas Engineers in Gaza Drone Strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday, September 13, that two individuals identified as militants from Hamas's engineering unit were eliminated in the Gaza City area. The IDF identified the individuals as Mahmoud Hassan Ali Abu Nada and Abd ar-Rahim Ahmad Khalil Huwar.
According to the IDF, both men were recently involved in weapons development and manufacturing, planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, and working to restore Hamas's military capabilities. The army stated that these activities constituted a systematic violation of the ceasefire and that the strike was carried out to neutralize an immediate threat.
The IDF asserted that measures were taken to minimize civilian risk prior to the strike, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. Palestinian sources reported earlier that Abu Nada and Huwar were killed when an IDF drone struck their vehicle in the Gaza City neighborhood of Tal al-Hawa.
Sources indicate that Abd ar-Rahim Ahmad Khalil Huwar was a certified engineer. Reports from Gaza identified Mahmoud Abu Nada as the imam of the "Ar-Rantisi" mosque in Jabalia, though the IDF described him primarily as a Hamas propagandist.
