IDF Eliminates Hamas Engineers Developing Weapons During Holiday

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted an airstrike in the Gaza City area on Sunday, eliminating two senior Hamas military engineering operatives. The targeted individuals, identified as Mahmoud Hassan Ali Abu Nada and Abdel al-Rahim Ahmed Khalil Hawar, were reportedly key figures in the development and production of weapons for the terrorist organization.

According to the IDF spokesperson, these operatives were recently involved in developing advanced weaponry, advancing terror plans against Israeli forces and civilians, and systematically working to rebuild Hamas's capabilities. Their activities were carried out in violation of the existing ceasefire agreement. The IDF stated the precise strike was intended to neutralize an immediate threat posed by the operatives to Israeli security forces and citizens, emphasizing that extensive measures were taken to prevent civilian casualties, including precision munitions and continuous aerial surveillance.

The elimination of these two Hamas engineers follows a series of targeted strikes by the IDF in recent weeks against senior Hamas commanders and operatives. Last week, the IDF eliminated a Nukhba commando who participated in the October 7th massacre and the killing of Colonel Jonathan Steinberg.

IDF forces in the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act decisively to eliminate any immediate threats to Israeli civilians and security forces. The military affirmed it would act against any attempts by terrorist organizations to rebuild their military capabilities or acquire weapons. In recent days, the IDF has intensified strikes against terror infrastructure and operatives throughout the Gaza Strip, focusing on Hamas and Islamic Jihad's engineering corps and weapons depots, while simultaneously upholding the ceasefire to prevent rearmament by these groups.
