Israeli Windsurfers Shine at World Championships with Gold and Silver

Israeli windsurfers achieved remarkable success at the World Championships held in England, securing a gold medal for Tamar Steinberg and a silver for Sharon Kantor. Daniela Peleg finished fourth, completing a strong showing for the Israeli women's team. This marks the fourth time Israel has achieved a double podium finish at the World Championships.

Steinberg and Kantor had secured direct berths to the finals the previous day, finishing first and second respectively after five preliminary rounds. Steinberg dominated the preliminaries, holding the top spot throughout, while Kantor showed significant improvement to secure second place. Peleg also qualified for the finals after a strong performance in her semi-final heat.

Under the championship format, the top two qualifiers, Steinberg and Kantor, entered the final race with an advantage. The first competitor to achieve two wins would be crowned champion. Steinberg, who was last year's world vice-champion, secured the title. This achievement solidifies the Israeli women's windsurfing team, coached by Shahar Tzuberi, as one of the world's strongest for several consecutive years.

In the men's competition, Tom Reuveny faced disappointment. After qualifying for the final in first place, a rerun of his semi-final heat due to a false start by two competitors saw him finish third. In the subsequent rerun, Reuveny failed to qualify for the final. Another Israeli competitor, Shahar Tibi, reached the quarter-finals but did not advance to the semi-finals.
