Hamas Khan Yunis Brigade Commander Eliminated in Israeli Airstrike
Israeli forces conducted a targeted airstrike in the Hamad neighborhood of Gaza City overnight Thursday-Friday, believed to have killed the commander of Hamas's Khan Yunis brigade, identified as Yazouri. According to Hamas sources speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat, Yazouri's body was severely dismembered in the strike, delaying his identification. His associates reportedly lost contact with him, prompting inquiries into whether he was the target.
Early Friday morning, it was confirmed that Yazouri was among the casualties. Reports indicate that seven other militants were killed in the same strike. Yazouri had recently assumed command of the Khan Yunis brigade, following the elimination of two senior Hamas military wing officials, Ezzedine Al-Haddad and Mohammed Awda.
Prior to leading the Khan Yunis brigade, Yazouri commanded central and western sectors in the Gaza Strip.
