Dozens of Weapons Seized in Foiled Jordan Border Smuggling Attempt
Israeli security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle approximately 40 weapons across the Jordan border overnight between Thursday and Friday. Two suspects, identified as Jericho residents in their 50s, were arrested during the operation.
The incident began when IDF observation posts detected suspicious activity indicating a smuggling attempt in the eastern border area. In response, forces from the Jordan Valley Brigade, officers from the Jordan Border Unit of the Judea and Samaria District Police, and Border Police units established ambushes in the area.
During the operation, more than 30 pistols and two M-16 rifles were seized. The arrested suspects and the confiscated weapons were transferred to the Judea and Samaria District Police's Central Unit for further investigation.
