Seven Pistols Seized Near Jordan Border; Suspect Injured Fleeing
Seven pistols intended for smuggling into Israel were seized on Thursday near the Jordan border. The weapons were discovered in a bag by joint forces from the IDF, Border Police, and Israel Police during an operation based on intelligence gathered by the Judea and Samaria District's Central Unit regarding smuggling routes along the eastern border. Forces had set up an ambush near the Jordan River area to thwart the illegal arms smuggling.
During the ambush, the forces spotted a suspect armed with a knife. When the forces initiated a suspect apprehension procedure, which included firing towards him, the suspect was hit and attempted to flee. A pursuit ensued, during which the bag containing the seven pistols was found.
The seized pistols have been transferred for further investigation by the Judea and Samaria District's Central Unit. Both the Israel Police and the IDF stated that security forces will continue to operate to thwart arms smuggling along the eastern border.
