Israel Foils Major Arms Smuggling Attempt on Eastern Border
Israeli security forces thwarted a significant arms smuggling attempt along the country's eastern border on Wednesday. Military observers detected suspicious activity indicating an impending smuggling operation, prompting a joint response.
Forces from the Jordan Valley Brigade, along with officers from the Judea and Samaria District's Jordan Border Unit and the Border Police for Judea and Samaria, set up ambushes in the area. During the operation, two Jericho residents in their 50s were apprehended.
More than 30 handguns and two M-16 rifles were seized. The suspects and the confiscated weapons were handed over to the Judea and Samaria District's Central Unit for further investigation.
Security forces remain deployed along the eastern border, continuing efforts to prevent smuggling and ensure the safety of Israeli citizens.
