Bread Snacks Recalled in Israel Over Undeclared Fava Bean Flour

Two varieties of 7 Days Bake Rolls, a popular snack product, are being recalled in Israel due to the undeclared presence of fava bean flour, a potential allergen. The recall was initiated by the importer, Diplomat Mafichim, following consumer complaints. The affected products are Bake Rolls with Salt and Bake Rolls with Garlic Flavor, both in 80-gram packages.

Specific production dates are subject to the recall. For the "with Salt" variety, this includes products with expiration dates of November 4, 2026, January 14 and 15, 2027, and April 28, 2027. For the "Garlic Flavor" variety, the recall covers products expiring on October 5, 2026, January 15, 2027, April 29, 2027, and October 15, 2027. The snacks are manufactured by Mondelez Romania Snacks Production SRL.

Diplomat Mafichim is removing the specified batches from retail stores in coordination with the Israeli Ministry of Health's Food Division. Consumers with allergies or sensitivities to fava beans are advised not to consume these products. For the general population, the product is not considered dangerous.

Fava bean flour can trigger rapid allergic reactions in sensitive individuals, including skin rashes, swelling, and potentially life-threatening anaphylactic shock. Cross-reactions are possible in those allergic to other legumes like peanuts, soy, or peas. Additionally, fava beans pose a risk to individuals with favism, a genetic G6PD enzyme deficiency, which can lead to rapid red blood cell destruction, acute anemia, and kidney damage.
