IDF Arrests Palestinian Police Officers for Attacking Israeli Citizen
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) arrested three Palestinian police officers this week who were involved in setting up a roadblock near the Palestinian town of Bituinya, and subsequently detaining and assaulting an Israeli civilian. The IDF stated that the officers acted outside their jurisdiction in Area C, a designation for territory under full Israeli control. The three officers are currently under investigation by security forces.
Security officials described the incident as a "severe deviation by the mechanisms," referring to the Palestinian security forces. They emphasized that the Israeli civilian's life was endangered during the aggressive assault. The IDF clarified that security coordination with the Palestinian Authority continues as directed by the political echelon, but stressed that the military "will not accept any deviation from procedures."
