IDF Arrests Palestinian Police Officers for Attacking Reservist Soldier

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have arrested three Palestinian police officers involved in an incident where a reservist soldier, Shlomo Rosenthal, was attacked and a roadblock was set up. The arrests occurred weeks after the event, which took place on the "Ma'ozim" route.

According to security officials, the officers acted outside their authority by establishing a roadblock in Area C, near Beitunia, a zone where they are not authorized to operate. They are accused of aggressively and severely using force against Rosenthal, who was traveling in civilian clothes while carrying a weapon and on reserve duty. Security officials described the incident as a "severe deviation by the mechanisms," referring to Palestinian security forces.

The IDF confirmed that security coordination is conducted under directives from the political echelon but emphasized that "the IDF will not accept any deviation from procedures." An IDF investigation into the incident found that the Palestinian police officers had illegally detained Rosenthal before handing him over to the IDF. The three arrested officers are currently under investigation by security forces.
