Israeli Security Forces Arrest Two Suspects for Vandalizing IDF Soldier Yehuda Peretz Memorial

Israeli security forces arrested two suspects from the Bedouin community in the south on Tuesday for vandalizing a memorial dedicated to IDF soldier Yehuda Peretz in the settlement of Retamim. The memorial was defaced last month, prompting a covert investigation by police. Following evidence collection and intelligence work, the operation transitioned to an overt phase with coordinated raids on two locations in the Bedouin village of Bir al-Hadaj. The arrests were carried out by Border Police commandos, Shin Bet agents, detectives from the Segev Shalom police station, and the Israeli police air unit. The suspects were apprehended at their homes and transferred for further interrogation. Police emphasized their commitment to continue acting decisively against attacks on memorials and public symbols, using all available means to bring perpetrators to justice.
