IDF Arrests Palestinian Police Officers for Attacking Israeli Citizen
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced this week the arrest of three Palestinian police officers involved in establishing a roadblock near the Palestinian town of Bituinya. The officers are accused of detaining and assaulting an Israeli citizen at the roadblock, which was set up in Area C, a designation for territory under full Israeli security and administrative control.
According to the IDF, the officers acted outside their authority by operating in Area C. Security officials described the incident as a severe deviation by the Palestinian security mechanisms, endangering the Israeli citizen's life through aggressive and serious use of force.
The arrested officers are currently under investigation by Israeli security forces. The IDF stated that while it maintains security coordination with Palestinian authorities as directed by the political echelon, it will not tolerate any deviations from established procedures.
