IDF Arrests Palestinian Security Personnel After Detaining Reservist
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) arrested three Palestinian security personnel this week after they detained an Israeli reservist soldier in Area C near Ramallah. The reservist, a resident of Judea and Samaria, was on leave and carrying a weapon when the incident occurred.
Video footage circulating from the event shows the Palestinian security officers alongside the reservist's vehicle. They identified themselves as Palestinian police. According to Yisrael Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, they also confiscated the reservist's weapon.
The IDF spokesperson stated that the incident constituted a "severe deviation from the authority of the security forces, endangering the life of the Israeli civilian and the use of aggressive and severe force against him."
