Maccabi Tel Aviv Pursues Romanian Midfielder Ianis Hagi

Maccabi Tel Aviv has reportedly made an offer for Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi, though the club officially denies the claim. Hagi's agent stated that the offer is "good" and could range between one million and 1.2 million euros, with the final decision resting with the player and his father, Gică Hagi.

Hagi, 27, earned 800,000 euros last season and is currently under contract with Turkish club Antalyaspor, valued at 1.8 million euros by Transfermarkt. Even with his contract ending, the total cost of his transfer, including payment to Antalyaspor and his first year's salary, is estimated to exceed 2 million euros. Some Romanian reports suggest Hagi is seeking an initial salary of one million euros per season, potentially increasing the overall deal value significantly.

This potential acquisition comes as Maccabi Tel Aviv has made several significant signings in recent years, including paying one million euros for Gabi Kankovsky and approximately 1.3 million euros for Christian Bălgrădean. However, the club often prioritizes younger players, as seen with signings like Wessel Dammers and Dor Peretz.

Maccabi Tel Aviv's ability to register new foreign players is currently contingent on the status of player Yonatan Nikolasco. While Hagi is not expected to join immediately, the team continues to search for a right winger before the transfer window closes on September 16.
