Agent: Maccabi Tel Aviv Offers Ianis Hagi Million-Euro Salary

Romanian agent Ioan Becali, cousin of Steaua Bucharest owner Gigi Becali, has confirmed that a move for Ianis Hagi to Maccabi Tel Aviv is still a possibility. Hagi, son of legendary player Gheorghe Hagi, has been linked with the Israeli club for the past year.

Becali stated on his show 'Giovanni Show' that Maccabi Tel Aviv can offer Hagi a salary of one million to 1.2 million euros and that the club "almost always plays in European competitions." Hagi has been playing for Turkish club Alanyaspor since last summer, but reports from Romania suggest he is unhappy with the club's conditions and management.

Hagi, who has 54 caps for the Romanian national team, previously played for Rangers and is familiar with current Maccabi Tel Aviv players James Tavernier and Kenny Miller. He has had a mixed start to the season with Alanyaspor, missing games due to injury and being substituted early in one match.

Becali emphasized that the decision now rests with Ianis Hagi and his father, Gheorghe Hagi, as Ianis is 27 and capable of making his own choices. He acknowledged the difficulty of the decision, citing the risk of moving to a potentially worse situation. Becali also questioned whether Gheorghe Hagi would continue to call Ianis up to the national team if he is not playing regularly.

Despite Hagi's limited playing time, Becali believes he will still be called up to the national team due to his quality and status as captain, suggesting he could still be a valuable substitute.
