Maccabi Tel Aviv to Begin Negotiations for Gabi Kanichovski Transfer from Ferencvaros

Gabi Kanichovski is expected to start for Ferencvaros in their Europa League playoff match against Trabzonspor on Thursday. Kanichovski recently played in a league match for Ferencvaros but was substituted in the 63rd minute, likely to preserve his fitness for the important European fixture. Ferencvaros has not ruled out negotiations with Maccabi Tel Aviv regarding Kanichovski's transfer, but they insist that the Israeli club and the player first agree on contract terms before discussing a transfer fee.

Kanichovski demands a net salary of at least 600,000 euros over three years, matching his current contract in Hungary for the next two years. Additionally, he would need to cover taxes on his previous season in Hungary if he returns to Israel this summer. Ferencvaros values Kanichovski at around four million euros according to Transfermarkt, which will be their starting point in negotiations. However, they might consider offers around two million euros.

Maccabi Tel Aviv aims to bring Kanichovski back but faces a complex situation. The player could have signed a contract worth approximately 500,000 euros net a year a year ago, but now his demands have increased, and the club would also need to pay a significant transfer fee. Ferencvaros will only begin transfer fee discussions once the contract terms between Kanichovski and Maccabi Tel Aviv are settled, making the deal potentially challenging for the Israeli club.
