Maccabi Tel Aviv Nears Signing Daniel Theis as Second-Highest Paid Foreign Player

Maccabi Tel Aviv is close to finalizing a two-year contract with German center Daniel Theis, who is expected to become the club's second-highest paid foreign player. The 34-year-old Theis, a European and World champion with Germany, played last season for Monaco. His contract reportedly offers around $2.2 million per season, placing him just behind Carlos Arroyo, who earns $2.5 million, and tied with Loney Walker.

Theis's signing is part of Maccabi Tel Aviv's ongoing roster construction ahead of the new season. The team is also expected to announce the addition of a second center, Armando Bacot, while potentially adding another guard. The current squad includes point guards Yam Madar, Efe Lundberg, and Jimmy Clark; shooting guards John DiBartolomeo and Amit Abo; small forwards Bonzi Colson, Oshae Brissett, and Will Rayman; power forwards Jalen Hood-Schifino, T.J. Leaf, and Gur Lavi; and centers Daniel Theis (pending contract), Roman Sorkin, and Armando Bacot (near agreement).

Theis's salary ranks among the top foreign earners in Maccabi's history, alongside notable players such as Efe Lundberg ($2 million), Nikola Vucevic ($1.8 million), and Jalen Hood-Schifino ($1.8 million). Other foreign players with contracts around $1.5 million include Bonzi Colson, Maciej Lampe, Sonny Weems, Will Solomon, and Anthony Parker.
