Maccabi Tel Aviv Nears Daniel Theis Signing While Talks Continue With Armani Brooks

Maccabi Tel Aviv is close to finalizing a deal for center Daniel Theis, currently in discussions with Villeurbanne officials and Theis's representatives. The club values the deal at approximately $2.5 million and is ready to invest this amount to secure the experienced player. The signing awaits approval from the French team and Theis himself, with expectations that the deal could close swiftly.

Simultaneously, Maccabi is negotiating with scorer Armani Brooks, who recently joined Villeurbanne from Milan. The Israeli club is willing to cover Brooks's salary, and the French team is reportedly open to releasing him, though some challenges remain. The club is also waiting on Loney Walker to finalize a contract elsewhere.

Daniel Theis, 34, returned to Europe a year and a half ago after seven NBA seasons, where he played 411 games averaging 7.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. His best NBA season was 2019/20 with Boston, averaging 9.2 points and 6.6 rebounds. In Europe, he played for Monaco last season, averaging 9.7 points and 5 rebounds per game.

Armani Brooks, 28, moved to Europe in summer 2024 after four seasons alternating between the NBA and its development league, playing 84 NBA games with 6.6 points per game. He spent two years in the EuroLeague with Milan, averaging 13.1 points and 3.5 rebounds last season.

Additionally, Maccabi is expected to announce the signing of center Armando Bacot, formerly of Fenerbahçe, following an agreement reached last week.
