Hapoel Tel Aviv's Giorgos Hinas Says Yam Madar's Salary Demands Were Unrealistic

Hapoel Tel Aviv's professional manager Giorgos Hinas discussed the recent departure of Israeli basketball star Yam Madar to Maccabi Tel Aviv in an interview from Greece. Hinas described the past season as challenging for Madar, who returned injured from national team duty and only resumed training in December 2025. Madar struggled to secure a spot in the rotation, especially given Chris Jones's strong performance.

Hinas revealed that although Madar had reached an agreement with the coach and management, his financial demands were deemed unrealistic by the club, effectively making him the highest-paid player in the EuroLeague. Consequently, Hapoel Tel Aviv ended negotiations and parted ways with Madar.

Regarding Madar's move to Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hinas estimated his salary there to be slightly above 2 million euros. He expressed belief in Madar's potential under coach Ketsch, who allows players considerable freedom, emphasizing that if Madar stays healthy, he will perform well.

With Madar's departure behind them, Hapoel Tel Aviv is now focused on preparing for the upcoming season, aiming to compete strongly on all fronts. Hinas continues to lead the team's roster building, seeking to maintain the positive momentum from the previous season.
