Hapoel Tel Aviv's George Hinas Criticizes Yam Madar's Unrealistic Salary Demands

George Hinas, the professional manager of Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball team, spoke in an interview from Greece about the club's preparations for the upcoming EuroLeague season, including budget details, player status, and coaching relationships. He praised owner Ofer Yanai's dedication and dynamic involvement, noting that the player salary budget has exceeded 20 million shekels with several roster spots still open. Hinas highlighted the team's strong fan base and rising ambitions under Yanai's leadership.

Regarding coach Dimitris Itoudis, Hinas emphasized his passion and attention to detail, which have significantly helped the organization adapt to EuroLeague demands. On player Vasilije Micić, Hinas acknowledged the financial aspect of his signing but stressed Micić's desire to be a leading player and his expected improvement in the second European season after NBA experience.

Addressing Yam Madar's departure to Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hinas explained that Madar's financial demands were deemed unrealistic, potentially making him the highest-paid player in the EuroLeague. Despite mutual agreement on his role, the club chose not to meet these terms. Hinas estimated Madar's Maccabi contract at just over two million shekels and expressed confidence in Madar's potential under coach Guy Goodes if he remains healthy.
