Maccabi Tel Aviv Negotiates Gabi Kanikovski's Potential Return Amid Transfer Fee Dispute
Maccabi Tel Aviv's sporting director, Steven Vanharan, is in talks with Hungarian club Ferencváros to reduce the €2 million transfer fee they demand for midfielder Gabi Kanikovski. Kanikovski, who has had a strong season in Budapest and is under contract for two more years, is open to returning to Israel if the clubs reach an agreement. He currently earns €600,000 net at Ferencváros and expects the same salary at Maccabi Tel Aviv. Additionally, if he returns this summer, he will face taxation on last season's earnings, which Maccabi Tel Aviv will need to manage. Kanikovski left Maccabi Tel Aviv a year ago after rejecting a new contract offer of €380,000, opting instead for a lucrative three-year deal in Hungary.
Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv is prepared to offer Roy Revivo a new three-year contract worth approximately €500,000 net per season, contingent on his decision to forgo opportunities in Europe. The club aims to secure Revivo's commitment soon as part of their squad planning.
