Maccabi Tel Aviv Negotiates Return of Midfielder Gabi Kanichovsky Amid Transfer Market Activity

Ahead of the new season and the Conference League playoff preparations, Maccabi Tel Aviv has intensified its transfer efforts by entering negotiations to bring back midfielder Gabi Kanichovsky. Kanichovsky, who left Maccabi Tel Aviv last season to join Hungarian club Ferencváros, is now potentially set to return. Hapoel Be'er Sheva is also reportedly interested in acquiring the player.

Kanichovsky is regarded as one of the top Israeli football expatriates, having departed Maccabi Tel Aviv after helping secure two consecutive league titles. At Ferencváros, he has been a regular starter and participated in all of the club's European League qualifying matches this season. Maccabi Tel Aviv is in urgent need of a player of Kanichovsky's caliber in midfield, especially after Christian Blitz suffered a long-term injury, leaving the team with limited midfield options.

Bringing back a senior foreign player like Kanichovsky would signal a strong intent from Maccabi Tel Aviv, particularly as the club is expected to part ways with other key players. Kanichovsky is a product of Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth system and returned to the senior team in summer 2021. Over four seasons, he made 54 appearances for Ferencváros, scoring eight goals and providing five assists. His return could bolster Maccabi Tel Aviv's squad depth ahead of the upcoming challenges.
