Maccabi Tel Aviv Denies Interest in Romanian Midfielder Ianis Hagi

The agent of Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi claims his client has received an offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv, though the Israeli club has denied this interest. Hagi's agent stated that the offer is "a good offer" and that Maccabi could potentially bid between €1 million and €1.2 million, but the final decision rests with Hagi and his father, former player Gheorghe Hagi.

Hagi, 27, earned €800,000 last season and is currently under contract, with his market value estimated at €1.8 million by Transfermarkt. Any transfer deal, including payment to his current club Antalyaspor and his first year's salary, is expected to exceed €2 million. Reports from Romania suggest Hagi is seeking an initial salary of €1 million per season, which could significantly increase the overall cost of the transfer.

This potential acquisition comes as Maccabi Tel Aviv has made several significant signings in recent years, often focusing on younger players, such as the acquisitions of Gabi Kaniowski for €1 million and Cristian Battocchio for approximately €1.3 million. The club also paid around €250,000 to bring back Dan Glazer.

Maccabi Tel Aviv currently has limitations on registering additional foreign players until the status of player Jonatan Nicușenco is clarified. While Hagi is not expected to join the team at this time, Maccabi Tel Aviv is still actively searching for a right winger before the transfer window closes on September 16.
