Maccabi Tel Aviv Denies Interest in Romanian Player Ianis Hagi Amid Transfer Rumors

Maccabi Tel Aviv has denied reports that they are interested in signing Romanian attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi. Hagi's agent claims the player has received a good offer from the Israeli club, potentially worth between one million and 1.2 million euros, but the final decision rests with Hagi and his father, former player Gheorghe Hagi.

Hagi, 27, earned 800,000 euros last season and is currently valued at 1.8 million euros by Transfermarkt. Even with his contract ending, the total cost of his transfer, including payment to his current club Antalyaspor and his first year's salary, is estimated to exceed 2 million euros. Some Romanian reports suggest Hagi is seeking an initial salary of one million euros per season, which would significantly increase the overall deal cost.

Maccabi Tel Aviv has made several significant signings recently, including paying one million euros for Gabi Kaniowski and approximately 1.3 million euros for Kristian Bjelic. However, the club generally prefers investing in younger players, as seen with signings like Welsey Petracci and Kervin Andrade. The team also paid a quarter million euros to bring back Dan Glazer.

Maccabi Tel Aviv cannot register another foreign player until the status of current player Yonatan Nikolasco is clarified. While Hagi is not expected to join the club at this time, Maccabi Tel Aviv is still searching for a right winger before the transfer window closes on September 16.
