IDF Major General Yossi Bachar Joins Religious Zionism Party

Major General (res.) Yossi Bachar, a resident of Kibbutz Be'eri and a hero of the October 7th battles, will join the Religious Zionism party's list for the 26th Knesset. Party chairman and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the decision, highlighting Bachar's extensive military career, including commanding the General Staff Corps, Gaza Division, Galilee Division, and the Paratroopers Brigade.

On October 7th, Bachar fought Hamas terrorists for hours to defend his kibbutz. During the subsequent war, he served as deputy commander of the Southern Command, participating in planning and commanding operations in Gaza. Smotrich praised Bachar as a "hero of Israel" and a symbol of national spirit, emphasizing his security experience and commitment to settlement and national security.

Bachar stated that after decades of military service, he felt called to public service following the October 7th events. He expressed deep belief in the Religious Zionism party's path and Smotrich's leadership, citing their commitment to Israel's security and settlement. Bachar aims to ensure no Israeli family endures what his family experienced at Kibbutz Be'eri on October 7th.
