Former IDF Commander Danny Shachar Joins Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu Party

Danny Shachar, a retired IDF brigadier general and former CEO of the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, announced his decision to join the Yisrael Beiteinu party led by Avigdor Lieberman. Shachar began his military career as a combatant and commander in Shayetet 13, later commanding elite units including the Samson Unit in Gaza, the Jenin Brigade, and the Nablus Brigade. After his military service, he held senior roles in Netanya municipality and the Ministry of Public Security before becoming the Ministry of Tourism's CEO.

During the recent war, Shachar led the government response to the evacuation and accommodation of residents from northern and southern Israel, coordinating hotel stays and other facilities nationwide. Upon joining Yisrael Beiteinu, Shachar emphasized his lifelong commitment to Israel, both as a soldier and public servant, highlighting the need for decisive leadership during crises. He praised Lieberman as a strong, experienced leader with a clear security vision and the ability to execute decisions.

Shachar stated that witnessing the hardships of displaced citizens during the war reinforced his belief in the importance of a functioning state that can respond effectively in real time. He expressed his support for Lieberman and Yisrael Beiteinu, underscoring Israel's need for leadership with experience, determination, and courage to make the right decisions for the country's security and future.
