Netanyahu Adds Two More Candidates to Likud Knesset List
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has selected two additional candidates to fill reserved spots on the Likud party's list for the upcoming Knesset elections. The chosen individuals are attorney David Petr, who has frequently represented Netanyahu and the government in High Court cases, and retired IDF Brigadier General Amir Avivi, founder of the "Israel Defense and Security" organization.
Petr's legal work has included representing Netanyahu and the government in matters concerning the appointment of a state service commissioner. He also defended National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir against petitions seeking his dismissal over alleged interference with police operations. Petr was previously associated with the Kohelet Policy Forum.
Avivi has held significant military positions, including deputy commander of a Gaza division and head of the Chief of Staff's bureau. Following his military career, he established the "Israel Defense and Security" forum, advocating for a hardline security policy.
Petr and Avivi are the fifth and sixth candidates Netanyahu has appointed to the eight reserved seats he controls. He has two more appointments to make before the party list submission deadline. The Knesset elections are scheduled for October 27.
