Netanyahu Selects Two More Candidates for Likud Knesset List
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has chosen Talik Gvili and Elisha Madan to fill two reserved spots on the Likud party's candidate list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Gvili is the mother of Senior Sergeant Ran Gvili, a member of the Yasam special police unit who was killed on October 7, 2023. His body was held in Gaza for over 800 days before being recovered and returned to Israel for burial.
Madan is a reservist who lost both legs in combat in Gaza in 2024 after a tunnel explosion near a mosque in the Beit Hanoun area. The blast killed four soldiers. Madan is also a founder of the Avigail settlement in Judea and Samaria.
These selections bring the total number of candidates Netanyahu has personally chosen to four, joining Gideon Sa'ar and Haim Katz, who were previously appointed by the prime minister. Netanyahu has the authority to select eight candidates for reserved spots on the list. He must finalize the remaining four positions by the deadline for submitting party lists for the October 27 elections.
