Netanyahu Considers Placing Prominent Right-Wing Lawyer in Likud Knesset List
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly in advanced discussions to secure a reserved spot on the Likud party's Knesset list for attorney David Peter, a prominent legal voice for the right-wing.
Peter has gained recognition in recent years for representing the government, the Prime Minister, and various ministers in High Court of Justice cases where their positions diverged from that of the Attorney General. This role has positioned him as a notable figure within right-wing circles.
The possibility of Peter entering politics via a reserved spot on the Likud list had been raised previously, but discussions have intensified in recent days as party lists are being finalized. While a final decision has not yet been made, the option is gaining traction.
Netanyahu is currently holding a series of meetings regarding the reserved seats on his list. He has postponed a Likud secretariat meeting to maintain flexibility until the last moment, though some candidate videos have already been filmed. Other names reportedly under consideration for reserved spots include Dr. Keren Assaig, Yifat Ben-Hagai, and others, though Assaig might be considered for a different party role.
