Netanyahu Adds Security Figures and Legal Experts to Likud List

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is bolstering the Likud party's Knesset list with prominent security figures and legal professionals, aiming to appeal to a broader electorate and strengthen the party's security and values-based platform. Among the notable additions is Brigadier General (res.) Amir Avivi, founder of the "Bithonim'im" movement, who held senior positions in the IDF, including deputy commander of the Gaza Division and chief of staff to the Chief of Staff. Also placed on the list is Talik Guili, a "Torch Lighter" honoree and mother of fallen Yasam officer Rani Guili, who was killed on October 7th and whose body was returned from Gaza. Another significant addition is Elisha Medan, a reserve combat soldier who was critically wounded in Beit Hanoun, lost both his legs, and became a symbol of resilience. Lawyer David Peter, a former researcher at the Kohelet Forum who represented the government in key High Court petitions, has also been given a reserved spot.

These placements come amidst a shifting landscape for reserved spots. Ultra-millionaire Oren Dobronsky, known from the "Sharks" TV show, had previously announced his reservation but withdrew it. Dobronsky cited his unwillingness to relinquish his American citizenship as the reason for his withdrawal. He expressed his intention to serve as a professional minister in the field of artificial intelligence in the future.
