Netanyahu Appoints Lawyer, Bereaved Mother, and Wounded Reservist to Likud List
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on September 8th several personal appointments to the Likud party's electoral list. Following businessman Oren Dobronsky's withdrawal from contention, Netanyahu retained the right to five such appointments. He has filled one reserved spot with attorney David Peter, a researcher at the Kohelet Forum. Peter has previously represented the government when Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara declined to do so.
Talik Gvili, mother of Ran Gvili, who was killed by terrorists on October 7, 2023, will also join the Likud list, occupying the ninth position. A party statement highlighted the Gvili family's "fortitude, extraordinary resilience, and deep faith" during difficult times.
Another reserved spot has been given to Elisha Madan, a reservist and co-founder of the Avigail settlement in the Southern Hebron Hills. Madan was severely wounded during fighting in Beit Hanoun, Gaza, where four comrades died. He lost both legs due to his injuries and has become a symbol of recovery for wounded soldiers, lighting a torch at this year's Independence Day ceremony focused on treatment and rehabilitation.
