Israeli Farmer Critically Wounded in West Bank Stabbing Attack, Assailant Neutralized

A 19-year-old Israeli farmer, Natanel Yaacovs, was critically injured in a stabbing attack near the Ma'oz Yehuda outpost in the West Bank on Sunday. The assailant reportedly arrived by car, engaged Yaacovs in conversation, and then repeatedly stabbed him before fleeing when his knife broke.

Following a brief pursuit by Israeli forces, the attacker was located in the Palestinian village of Idna. He attempted to stab a soldier before being neutralized by troops. Multiple IDF units, including the Duvdevan unit, Combat Intelligence Collection Unit 636, and the Nahal Brigade's reconnaissance unit, along with police forces, responded to the scene. The area around Ariel was temporarily closed to traffic.

Paramedics treated Yaacovs for stab wounds to his upper body and evacuated him to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. The victim recounted a struggle where he fought back against his attacker before realizing the extent of his injuries.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, stating, "No terrorist has a hiding place." He praised the soldiers who neutralized the attacker and vowed to continue pursuing terrorists and dismantling terror infrastructure in the West Bank. Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed these sentiments, emphasizing a policy of pursuing Palestinian terror while strengthening Jewish settlement and maintaining security stability, noting that terror levels in the West Bank are currently at their lowest in decades. Katz also outlined a contingency plan for a full-scale war against the Palestinian Authority and its terror infrastructure if they initiate attacks similar to October 7th.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Harkavy commented that while such attacks are a daily reality for Israelis, they may not receive the same international attention as attacks against Palestinians. The incident follows a similar stabbing attack two weeks prior near the Jordan Valley, where a 24-year-old was moderately injured.
