Fuel Prices to Drop in Israel Following Tax Adjustment

DavarLeft
Translated & summarized from Davar by baba
The story · English

The maximum price for a liter of 95-octane unleaded gasoline in Israel will decrease by half a shekel starting midnight between Sunday and Monday, September 6-7, 2026. The new price will be NIS 7.75 per liter for self-service stations, down from NIS 8.25. This adjustment is due to an update in the excise tax on gasoline, as announced by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The surcharge for full-service stations will remain unchanged at NIS 0.26 per liter. In Eilat, where Value Added Tax (VAT) is not applied, the maximum price for a liter of 95-octane unleaded gasoline will drop by 42 agorot to NIS 6.57. The full-service surcharge in Eilat will remain at NIS 0.22 per liter.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that the global campaign against Iran, led by the United States, is causing fuel prices to rise. He added that the price reduction he approved will ease the burden on Israeli citizens, curb indirect price increases across various economic sectors, and help in continuing to lower inflation and interest rates. Smotrich emphasized this is part of a calculated and responsible economic management approach.

The detailed formula for consumer fuel prices is available on the Ministry of Energy's website.
