Maccabi Tel Aviv Fans Protest Chairman Shimon Mizrahi Over Share Dispute

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans launched an unprecedented protest against the club's veteran chairman, Shimon Mizrahi, hanging over 100 signs across Tel Aviv, particularly near his home, demanding he "choose a side." The outrage stems from Mizrahi's decision to exercise his right of first refusal to purchase the shares held by the Recanati family. This move is expected to increase Mizrahi's stake from 14.5% to approximately 40.5%, making him the largest single shareholder and significantly altering the club's power dynamics.

Mizrahi's action is intended to prevent businessman Richard Deitz from gaining a majority stake in the team. However, the fan organization accuses the current management of prolonged professional and managerial uncertainty. They are urging Mizrahi to change course and not tarnish his legacy by aligning with parties they believe harm the club's future.

The fans stated that Mizrahi must "come to his senses" and avoid associating with individuals detrimental to the club's prospects.
