Israel's Average Salary Rises to Over $15,000 in June
The average salary for salaried employees in Israel reached NIS 15,218 in June 2026, a 7.7% increase from NIS 14,132 in June 2025, according to data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics. Even after accounting for inflation, real wages saw a significant rise of 5.9% year-over-year. The average gross salary for a salaried position in June was higher than in May (NIS 14,263) and April (NIS 14,363). These figures represent gross salaries and do not account for net income or the number of days worked in a month, based on employer reports to the National Insurance Institute.
Alongside the wage increase, the number of salaried positions also grew, reaching 4.2187 million in June, up from 4.1694 million in May and 4.0672 million in April. However, trend data indicates stability in the number of positions from April to June, following a 2.3% annual decrease in the first quarter.
The high-tech sector continues to command significantly higher salaries, with the average in June at NIS 36,584 per salaried position, more than double the overall average. This represents an 11.7% increase from NIS 32,739 in June 2025. The number of high-tech positions stood at 396,900 in June, nearly unchanged from May, and constituted 9.4% of all salaried positions in the economy.
Other sectors also showed considerable wage disparities. Financial companies reported the highest average salary among non-high-tech sectors at NIS 23,895. Non-financial companies, the largest sector by employment, averaged NIS 16,262, while the public sector averaged NIS 16,047. Lower averages were recorded in private non-profits (NIS 8,354) and households (NIS 6,173).
