Israel's Average Salary Sees 7.7% Rise to Over 15,000 Shekels

Israel's average monthly salary reached 15,218 shekels in June 2026, marking a nominal increase of 7.7% compared to June of the previous year, according to data released Thursday by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The real wage increase, after accounting for inflation, stood at 5.9%.

The total number of jobs in the economy was 4.219 million, up 1.2% from May and 2.1% from June 2025. Notably, 67.32% of Israeli employees work in sectors where the average salary is below the national average.

The high-tech sector reported an average salary of 36,584 shekels in June, an 11.7% rise from the previous year. The number of high-tech jobs was 396,900, remaining stable from May but showing a slight 0.2% increase year-over-year. High-tech jobs constituted 9.4% of all salaried positions in the economy.

The report also detailed average salaries across various sectors. For instance, the education sector, employing 660,800 workers, had an average salary of 13,073 shekels. The health and welfare sector, with 634,700 employees, averaged 11,582 shekels. Other sectors with significant employee numbers included wholesale and retail trade (513,300 employees, 11,596 shekels average), construction (222,400 employees, 13,757 shekels average), and industry (353,300 employees, 21,496 shekels average). The highest average salaries were observed in professional, scientific, and technical services (22,641 shekels), information and communication (33,509 shekels), and public administration and defense (23,331 shekels).
