Netanyahu Declares Gaza Demilitarization Key Goal, Cites Hamas Security Chief Capture

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Gaza border, stating that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) control 60% of the Gaza Strip and will continue operations there. He emphasized that the primary objectives are the disarmament and demilitarization of Gaza, ensuring it no longer poses a threat to Israel. "We control 60% of the territory of the sector, and this is not the end," Netanyahu said, adding, "We are doing everything to achieve our goal, the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza. Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel."

Netanyahu highlighted the recent capture of a senior Hamas official, identified as al-Arabid, who led the group's internal security service. The Prime Minister stated that this captured leader, apprehended on September 1st, is expected to provide valuable intelligence. Al-Arabid is also believed to have been involved in rebuilding Hamas's military capabilities and attempting to regain control of the enclave, as well as organizing attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians.

Earlier, Netanyahu had indicated that Israel would not cease its military operations, asserting that the IDF would continue to act against any threats to both its soldiers and civilians. The Prime Minister made these remarks during a government meeting, addressing security matters and the international agenda.
