Netanyahu Vows Expanded Control in Gaza, Cites Hamas Disarmament Progress

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conducted a tour along the "Yellow Line" in Gaza, visiting a military site and asserting that Israel currently controls 60% of the Gaza Strip, with plans to expand this control further. He emphasized that Israeli forces will not withdraw and will remain at the current line, established under a fragile ceasefire agreement.

During the tour, accompanied by Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and the head of the Southern Command, Netanyahu received an update on military operations in the "Yellow Line" area and within the Strip. He stated, "We control the area here, we will not withdraw and will remain at this line," reiterating the 60% control and the intention to expand it.

Netanyahu declared that Israel is doing everything possible to achieve its objective of disarming Hamas and demilitarizing Gaza, asserting that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel, a goal he believes has been largely achieved, though further work remains.

The visit follows the announcement of the capture of Mu'een Muhammad Al-Arabeed, head of internal security in Gaza and a senior Hamas leader, by a special Shin Bet unit. Netanyahu accused Al-Arabeed of being responsible for hiding and transferring hostages, concealing Hamas leaders, rebuilding the group's capabilities, attempting to restore Hamas's control over Gaza, deceiving regarding disarmament, and aiding in attacks against Israelis.

Netanyahu issued a stern warning, stating, "My instructions are clear: Israel will continue to pursue all Hamas leaders and everyone who participated" in the October 7, 2023 attack.
