The maximum price for a package of 12 medium-sized eggs will rise from 13.13 shekels to 13.40 shekels, an increase of 27 agorot. Large eggs will cost up to 14.54 shekels, up from 14.24 shekels (a 30 agorot increase), and extra-large eggs will see their maximum price go from 15.48 shekels to 15.81 shekels, an increase of 33 agorot. All listed prices include VAT.
This price hike is attributed to the regular pricing calculation, which reflects changes in production and marketing costs throughout the supply chain. Factors considered include feed for laying hens, wages, energy, and packaging. The previous update to regulated egg prices occurred in November 2025.
The automatic pricing mechanism, implemented in 2023, reviews cost changes quarterly. Prices can adjust up or down based on these calculations. An update is triggered if the cumulative change since the last adjustment exceeds 3% and at least six months have passed. Alternatively, if a year has passed and the cumulative change exceeds 1%, an update occurs, which is the condition for the current price increase.
