צה"ל הודיע כי חיסל את נאאל אבו עביד, מפקד חטיבת רפיח של ארגון הטרור חמאס. אבו עביד נחשב לאחד ממפקדי חמאס הבכירים בארגון.

על פי דיווחים, אבו עביד היה מעורב בתכנון וביצוע פיגועים רבים נגד אזרחים וחיילים ישראלים. הוא גם היה אחראי על העברת כספים וסיוע לארגוני טרור ברצועת עזה.

החיסול בוצע במסגרת פעילות צה"ל ברצועת עזה, שמטרתה לפרק את תשתיות הטרור של חמאס ולהביא להשבת החטופים. צה"ל ממשיך לפעול במרץ נגד יעדי טרור ברצועה.
