Hamas Calls for Public Funeral for Slain Rafah Brigade Commander
Hamas has invited Gaza residents to attend the funeral of Na'el Abu Abed, the commander of its Rafah brigade, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday. The funeral procession is scheduled to depart from the Nasser Hospital mosque in Khan Younis after the midday prayer.
Abu Abed was a senior figure within Hamas's military wing. He was killed alongside other high-ranking commanders, including Ra'ad al-Attar, who previously led the Rafah brigade and was killed in 2014 during Operation Protective Edge, and Mohammed Abu Shamalah, who commanded Hamas's southern Gaza Strip forces and was killed with al-Attar.
