Gaza Funeral for Hamas Military Wing Commander Killed Overnight
Thousands of mourners gathered in Gaza City on Tuesday for the funeral of Ahmed al-Batsh, a senior commander in Hamas's military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Al-Batsh was killed in an Israeli airstrike overnight.
During the funeral procession, attendees chanted slogans including "Millions of martyrs are marching to Jerusalem." Gunfire was also heard in the air, fired by armed individuals.
The Israeli military stated that al-Batsh was responsible for planning and executing attacks against Israel, including rocket fire and other terror activities. He was targeted in a precise strike aimed at disrupting Hamas's operational capabilities.
Hamas has vowed revenge for the killing, and tensions remain high in the region. The incident is the latest in a series of escalating confrontations between Israel and Palestinian militant groups in Gaza.
