Senior Hamas Military Commander Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Gaza City

Amid reports of U.S. pressure to halt attacks in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have continued military operations since late night across multiple locations in Gaza. Palestinian sources report that Nafaz Sabih, a senior commander in Hamas's military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, was killed in a vehicle strike in Gaza City. The attack occurred in the Rimal neighborhood in the western part of the city, where four people were reportedly killed.

Since midnight, Palestinians have reported over ten separate strikes throughout Gaza, resulting in at least 18 deaths and dozens of injuries. Targeted areas include Gaza City, the Rimal neighborhood, and Deir al-Balah. Additionally, two people were killed in a strike on a displaced persons' tent, with further casualties reported in various parts of the Strip.

Hamas issued a statement condemning the escalation, accusing Israel of deliberately undermining ceasefire understandings reached through mediators. The group called on mediators and Arab states to pressure Israel to stop the attacks. Israeli officials have not yet provided an official response regarding the details of the strikes or the identities of the targets. However, the reported killing of a senior Al-Qassam commander indicates ongoing focused operations against Hamas elements in Gaza.
