צה"ל ושב"כ הודיעו הבוקר (ב') על מעצרו של מחבל בכיר בתנועת פת"ח בטולכרם. הכוחות פעלו במסגרת פעילות מיוחדת לסיכול טרור במרחב, לאחר מצוד מודיעיני ומבצעי שנמשך שבועות.

המעצר בוצע על ידי לוחמי יחידת דובדבן, בפיקוד חטיבת אפרים ובהכוונת השב"כ. המחבל שנעצר הוא מחמד אבראהים עא והאב שחאדה, שהיה מבוקש בשל חשד למעורבות בתכנון וביצוע פיגועי טרור וכן בסחר באמצעי לחימה.

כוחות הביטחון הדגישו כי ימשיכו לפעול באופן יוזם והתקפי לסיכול טרור ברחבי אוגדת יהודה ושומרון, במטרה לשמור על ביטחון התושבים ואזרחי ישראל.
