IDF and Shin Bet Arrest Senior Hamas Terrorist in West Bank Operation
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced on Monday the arrest of a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative in Tulkarm, in the West Bank.
The joint operation, involving forces from the Duvdevan unit under the command of the Ephraim Brigade and guided by the Shin Bet, targeted terrorist activity in the Tulkarm area.
Following an intelligence and operational manhunt over recent weeks, security forces apprehended Muhammad Ibrahim 'Awaidah Shahada. He is suspected of serving as a senior operative in the Fatah movement in Tulkarm and was wanted for alleged involvement in terrorist activities, planning and executing attacks, and arms trafficking.
Security forces stated they will continue proactive operations throughout the Judea and Samaria Division to thwart terrorism and maintain the security of residents in the region and Israeli citizens.
The operation occurred in the Ephraim Brigade's area of operation, which covers the northern West Bank.
