IDF and Shin Bet Arrest Senior Hamas Terrorist in Tulkarm

Israeli security forces, including the elite Duvdevan unit operating under the guidance of the Shin Bet, apprehended a senior Hamas terrorist, Muhammad Ibrahim A'ah Wahab Shahada, in Tulkarm on Monday. The operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering and operational pursuit.

Shahada, identified as a high-ranking figure within Hamas in Tulkarm, was wanted for his alleged involvement in planning and executing terror attacks, as well as arms trafficking. The Shin Bet had been monitoring his activities, recognizing him as a significant threat to security forces and civilians in the area.

The arrest was carried out by the Duvdevan unit, a special undercover counter-terrorism force, in close cooperation with other IDF units. The forces reportedly located Shahada's hideout and apprehended him without incident, transferring him for further interrogation by security agencies.

This operation in Tulkarm is part of a broader series of counter-terrorism efforts by the IDF and Shin Bet across the West Bank in recent weeks. The IDF stated that the arrest aimed to neutralize an immediate threat posed by the terrorist to Israeli security forces and citizens. The military added that security forces will continue proactive operations to thwart terrorism and maintain the safety of residents and Israeli citizens.

Shahada is expected to be questioned about his actions and connections to other terrorist elements in the region.
