Two Injured in Violent Attack by Maccabi Tel Aviv Fans After Jerusalem Match

Following a Premier League match between Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Tel Aviv, two brothers were assaulted by Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters in Rehovot. The younger brother, 23, accompanied his 31-year-old sibling, a Hapoel Jerusalem fan, to the game despite not being a football enthusiast himself. After the match, a crowd gathered around a Hapoel Jerusalem fan's car, which was vandalized with broken windows, prompting the brothers to intervene and offer help.

During the attack, both brothers were struck with batons; the older brother was also hit with a rock. The younger brother sustained external injuries, while the older suffered internal injuries and was hospitalized at Kaplan Medical Center before being transferred to the neurology department at Beilinson Hospital. Doctors are concerned about a possible skull fracture and internal bleeding. The younger brother was released the same night.

The younger brother described the incident as a deliberate and unprovoked attack, likening it to a terror act due to its severity. He expressed disbelief that such violence could occur at a sporting event, emphasizing that they were innocent fans simply trying to return home after the game. Earlier, police announced the arrest of two suspects in connection with the assault.
